VIDEO: High School Runner Helps Fallen Opponent and Finishes Last

Gruesome and violent stories have dominated the airwaves lately, but there's a good news story that's gone viral online.

At the recent Ohio state championship high school track and field meet, during the 3,200 metre final, 17 year-old Meghan Vogel was dead last approaching the finish line. She suddenly saw Arden McMath collapse in front of her.

Instead of passing McMath, Vogel stopped to pick her up and helped her cross the finish line.

But the truly heart-warming part of the story was how Vogel carried her fallen opponent across the finish line.

Right before ending the race, Vogel pushed McMath out in front ensuring that the struggling runner placed ahead of her.

Vogel had never placed raced in a race before. She now says she doesn't consider herself a hero, she just did what she thought was the right thing to do.

A runner who helps another is supposed to be automatically disqualified but race officials decided against enforcing those rules.
