Ford Brothers Hope for a Chance to Undo Bag Ban
Rob and Doug Ford hope to get a chance to undo Toronto's new bag ban later this year.
On Newstalk 1010's The City Sunday afternoon, the Mayor and Councillor continued to bash the ban saying it was done without much thought and that most people think it's the wrong move.
The brothers hope they can change the minds of those that voted to ban plastic shopping bags in the new year.
"Legal staff is going to send a report to our executive committee in September, says Rob Ford. "That's going to have to come back to council because it's not a bill right now. I think we have another crack at not banning plastic bags."
One called suggested that Toronto mayors should have veto power.
"I've never agreed with that," says Rob Ford. "It's hard for me to sit here as mayor and we have a debate and then I just come in an step over everything (council) did."
The mayor and councillor remain convinced that the bag ban will be challenged in court.
