A 29 year-old substitute teacher in Montreal has been fired after allowing Grade 10 students to watch the video of the murder and dismemberment of Jun Lin.

The video was played June 4th at Cavelier-De LaSalle high school in LaSalle.

The grade 10 students apparently voted unanimously to watch the video.

The school board says it took a number of factors into consideration, including, it says, the gravity of the decision to show the video and the impact on students.

A protest was held Thursday afternoon in support of the teacher.

Luka Magnotta is accused in the death of Lin and has yet to be extradited from Germany.

A memorial was held Thursday night to for the 33 year-old Concordia University student murder and dismembered.

Criminal charged are in order. Those that hide behind bizarre suggestions this was a matter of "free speech" need to be monitored...There is no such thing as "free speech" and there shouldnt be under certain circumstances and agendas...What next, broadcast this evil snuff on on the children's channel?...Thank goodness we have a standards council and thank goodness this individual is fired.
