More Details of Alleged TDSB Rip-Offs
More details are emerging about the problems the Toronto District School board is having with construction and maintenance workers.
A continuing Toronto Star investigation now reports that some workers have been discovered in bars, spending far too long at Tim Horton's, and even a man and a woman "fooling around" in a car, all while on the public dime.
What appears to happen, according to the report, is that workers signed in to work at a location leave to "get parts" for the job and are later discovered by board officials.
According to the paper, 8 workers have been fired by the board for similar behaviour. It's not known if the TDSB is trying to recoup the wages paid to the workers who were slacking off.
Another case is also under investigation where a TDSB construction worker was spotted passing out pamphlets at home offering to do odd jobs, while he should have been working for the board.
The news comes following an earlier report that the board was getting overcharged for small jobs.
