Thief Snatches iPhone from Pregnant Woman

A 31 year-old Toronto woman was the victim of a despicable robbery this week.

Susan McGregor is nine months pregnant and had her iPhone snatched right out of her hand on Wednesday.

It happened at Runnymede station on the Bloor-Danforth line. During a stop the crook grabbed her phone, and then as she tells the Toronto Sun he just "sauntered" off the train.

It's the type of theft TTC officials say is becoming more popular.

Thieves grab electronics out of the hands of riders when a train stops so they can quickly get off the train and out of the station before the victim realizes what happened.

    So, she's pregnant - of what relevance is this fact to the story? The media have been all over Andrea Horwath for complaining of bullying over the budget but somehow this woman becomes some fragile flower? If she hadn't been pregnant would the story be somehow less newsworthy? Why wasn't she paying more attention to her surroundings?

    @ John can you be even colder.......your like the country Canada........COLD!!! Which is a shame.

    In every story the media gives *all* evidence of the circumstances of a story! I don't see anything wrong with the media indicating that she's pregnant it's an important fact supose.....her water broke and..............she needed to call her hubby/boyfriend, mom/dad whoever and her phone was stolen then what?

    Is anyone around going to call for help maybe..............most likely but with your comment I guess you just would put on the *ignore* face.

      @MarciaG_2423 What if, what if, what if? Did it happen? No - not part of the story. Are we all to live our lives like the Family of Stupids? What if the axe in the beam falls and hits the man in the head and kills him? Rather than take the axe out of the beam we are just going to worry about what if? She's pregnant, her iPhone was taken, she was not physically injured, and that is all. Her pregnancy has nothing to do with the fact that such robberies seem to be increasing on the subway except she might have made an easier target. Nothing has been mentioned of how or why she was holding her iPhone in such a manner that the thief could grab it. Is her pregnancy an excuse for her not paying attention?
