Maple Leafs GM Brian Burke has made his first big trade of the off-season.

The Leafs have acquired forward James Van Riemsdyk from the Philadelphia Flyers for defenceman Luke Schenn.

Van Riemsdyk had 11 goals and 13 assists in 43 games for the Flyers last season when he missed time with a broken left foot.

Schenn, meanwhile, scored twice and had 20 assists in 79 games with Toronto.

The deal unites Schenn with his brother Brayden, who is a centre with Philadelphia.
