Poll Suggests Canadians Split on Impact of Immigration

Posted By: Russ Courtney · 6/30/2012 6:05:00 PM

As we celebrate Canada Day this weekend, a new poll suggests a majority of Canadians believe our immigration levels should stay where they are.

72% of respondents to an Ipsos-Reid poll for Newstalk 1010 think Canada should not let in more immigrants than we currently do.

40% believe immigration has had a positive impact on Canada with 34% believing it has had a negative impact.

When it comes to Aboriginal peoples, 66% of poll respondents believe that they receive too much support from Canada taxpayers.

Current levels of immigration and the type of immigrants comming in, shows us that our elites prefer to abandon us, instead of making sure that we and our children are ready to do the work needed. First, our elites started shipping jobs to Asia, now they are also bringing in more and more Aisans to fill the skilled positions, instead of trying to fill them from within the ranks of those born here.
This leaves us and our children as nothing more than consumers, and builders of dwellings, and miners of our resources (few Chinese come to Canada for those jobs). We don't seem to be needed for much else. When our multi-generational credit card runs out, and eventually maybe even many of the resources, then perhaps we will experience the same fate as the ones we encountered here 500 years ago, while the new elites will look back and wander at just how foolish we were.
