Campaign for bullied bus monitor raises $700,000

The online campaign, launched by a Toronto man, that aimed to raise $5,000 to send bullied New York bus monitor Karen Klein on vacation has ended.
   
The final tally - more than $700,000.
   
More than 30 thousand people from all over the world have contributed.
   
The campaign was started by Max Sidorov after he saw video of Klein enduring an onslaught of vile verbal abuse from some middle school students on a bus.
   
Klein has not commented on the total of the fundraiser.

    If this woman keeps the entire amount it is just greedy. She was a victim so should look to helping other victime of bullying. From the news reports I.ve seen this doesn't sound like it will happen. Too bad.

      @SharonD_2 Sounds like because you dont get a piece of the generous pie; you have to chastize this person you dont know... I think this lady, judging by the primary stories, will do as she feels to help the situation. Her job is to keep kids safe...Kids hurt and verbally abused her...dont say rude things qhen you havent read all the news provided. She has worked hard to help bullying retreat.

      @SharonD_2 So she got yelled at (and judged) for just sitting there, and now you are yelling at and judging her for receiving money. By any chance, were you one of the kids in the video?

    Maybe I can bring a lil perspective to this. Why should this Bus Monitor get any financial compensation just because she was bullied (recorded and placed on Youtube) The fact of the matter is, thousands upon thousands of people of varying differences are bullied everyday, most get over it or grow from it, a small few take a terribly different choice, and others stand up and smack down their bullies. In the end, money will never change how things are for any victim, Its what we as a society choose to do that'll make the ultimate difference.
