UPDATE: TTC bus crashes into coffee shop

Posted By: Justine Lewkowicz · 7/22/2012 1:41:00 PM

It was an unscheduled stop for a TTC bus late Sunday morning, right into the side of a coffee shop at Queen and Peter Streets.

Passersby saw a Red Rocket faceplanted into the brick wall.

The front of the bus is crumpled in around the door but the building seems to have suffered to significant damage.

3 people suffered minor injuries, the bus driver and one passenger taken to hospital to get looked over.

Nobody else was seriously hurt.

Reports say the cause was some sort of traffic mishap involving a rental car and a taxi.

Emergency crews shut the intersection down to clean up the mess.

    Spadina Bus, Spadina Bus!!
And all day Saturday, there was a "dead" bus on Spadina at Sussex, just south of Bloor, where the Streetcar line goes underground.
NOW, will the intersection of Quuen and Spadina be ready after the closure? If not, more such run ins?

People could easily have been killed, and yet thanks to the TTC drivers' union, the negligent creature who was behind the wheel of that bus will most likely come out of this situation with no punishment, no prison time, no consequences at all. We desperately need to bring accountability into our transit system, and that starts with reducing union power. @proton If you see things like that, take note of the date and time it occurs, the location, and the vehicle number and/or license plate of the bus involved. Pass that information on to the police.
