EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: Mayor to Meet With PM
The mayor has arrived for another meeting aimed at getting a handle on gun violence. This one is with the Prime Minister.
Mr. Harper was scheduled to be in Toronto already on Tuesday, and mayor Ford requested the chat. The two will be meeting at 12:40 p.m. at 43 Division, in Scarborough.
It's expected that Ford will follow suit with Monday's meeting at Queen's Park, and ask Harper for federal money to fight guns and gangs.
Tuesday's meeting between Ford, Chief Bill Blair and Premier Dalton McGuinty proved to be somewhat effective. The Premier announced the province will provide $12.5-million a year in permanent funding for anti-violence strategies. That includes $5-million for the TAVIS force which deals with city gangs and guns.
