Canadian tourist dies in Mexico
A 21 year old Canadian tourist, has died while on vacation in Mexico.
Local reports say she fell about 10 metres from the balcony of her second-floor hotel room.
Canadian Foreign Affairs didn't provide any other details, but the spokesperson for Acadia University in Nova Scotia confirmed the victim was a student there. He adds that she was among a group of graduates on a privately-organized trip.
“I am deeply saddened to inform our campus community that one of our graduating students passed away suddenly this morning while on vacation in Cancun, Mexico. We have few details about the circumstances at this time,” Scott Roberts told the King’s-County Register newspaper.
Canadian consular officials are in contact with local authorities to gather more information and that consular assistance is being provided both in Mexico and to the woman`s relatives in Canada.
