TCHC head wants special constables armed

Posted By: Justine Lewkowicz · 7/28/2012 7:03:00 AM

The new head of Toronto Community Housing wants to find ways to deter criminals, and Gene Jones says one of those ways could be arming the corporation's special constables.

Jones says he wants the constables to be able to carry guns.

He says he wants to hear from residents and staff on any ideas of how to make community housing safer.

Councillor Paula Fletcher tells the Toronto Sun that Jones should look in to the idea a little more carefully, that there was a lot of controversy at first whether there should be special constables at all.

Hey I have a better idea, let us put in tanks you see small weapons are not going to do the job. Tanks in TCHC is the answer than fixing the problems into it. I just get so tired of a reasoning so twisted to building solutions to work on already criminals who we know and Police know but can never touch, but we fail to stop those that are not yet criminals. Oh that is a job of black parents that are failures and killing their own kids I forget.

He is an American what do you expect?

Well said! TCHC Special Constables don't need guns! The theory of escalation advises us that if they had guns, then they would be a bigger threat and the gangs would start shooting them. And what of innocent people caught in the middle? Good security officers don't need firearms! Flood the heavy TCHC communities with uniformed contract security. They are cheaper and usually more motivated than the in-house security, with their union, benefits, high salaries and other perks! A strong security and police presence can turn this terrible situation around! When TCHC CEO derek ballantyne removed all contract security from the communities in late 2004, he set the stage for the Summer Of The Gun in 2005. And all the violent crime that has since come to pass, has been a direct consequence of his moronic actions! Put contract security back into the TCHC properties, and put the cork back in the bottle!
