The SIU is looking into the death of a pedestrian near the Woodbine Centre at Hwy27 & Rexdale Blvd after being hit by a Toronto Police cruiser.

The cruiser was part of an escort for a funeral, winding its way through city streets around 12:30pm Saturday.

The victim's name & age haven't been released, but signs point a female victim.  A purse, some clothing & other items are still scattered on the roadway.

It looks like some of the people who were part of the funeral procession didn't get to be part of their loved one's goodbye.  There are still many cars on scene with "funeral" markers.
