An aspiring sportscaster who narrowly missed gunfire at the Eaton Centre has been laid to rest in her native San Antonio, Texas.

24-year-old Jessica Ghawi was among the 12 people killed when a man opened fire on a Batman screening at an Aurora, Colorado movie theatre.

Mourners at her funeral remembered her energy, her ambition, positivity & passion.  Her tearful brother Jordan said his sister's death is a reminder to chase our dreams & that we don't know how long we have on earth.

Jordan says his sister understood that, it was on her blog.

Jessica wrote that June's Eaton Centre shooting showed her how fragile life is.  She left the food court after experiencing an "odd feeling" in her chest.  Jessica adds that she was reminded that we don't " when or where we will breathe our last breath."

Fellow theatre shooting victim Matt McQuinn was also remembered Saturday with a funeral in Springfield, Ohio.
