Driftwood Court shooting becomes homicide investigation
A shooting that happened in the Jane and Finch area has turned into homicide investigation.
The victim, 30-year old Donald Levy of Brampton died in hospital on Wednesday.
He was shot in the head in the parking lot of 9 Driftwood Court on July 20th, just days after the shooting on Danzig Street.
Authorities say homicide detectives have taken over the investigation and that they are doing everything possible to identify a suspect, including talking to witnesses and reviewing security footage.
Cst. Tony Vella with Toronto Police says investigators believe the killing was targeted, he would not say that the killing has gang connections, explaining that it is only one possible motive detectives are considering.
Vella does say that the victim is known to police but does not provide specifics.
He adds that police find the killing particularly troubling because at the time of the incident, Levy's 2-year old child was in a car parked just feet away from where he was gunned down.
Vella has a message for the suspect or suspects involved:
"We are working on the investigation and its only a matter of time before you're identified," says Vella.
Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact Toronto Police at 416-808-7400 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
