Toronto's Medical Officer of Health has issued a Heat Alert for the city.
The forecast high for Saturday is 32 degrees, but with the humidity, it could feel more like something in the low 40-degree range. Environment Canada has also called a Humidex Advisory for Toronto & much of southwestern Ontario.
You can beat the heat by drinking lots of water, even if you don't feel thirsty, seeking out shade & sticking to air conditioned buildings if you can. The Heat Alert means city pools & cooling centres will stay open longer.
Toronto Public Health is asking you to check on family, friends & neighbours, especially seniors who have a harder time handling the punishing heat.
Other at-risk groups include children, the homeless & people with chronic & pre-existing illnesses.
