We need to isolate carriers of HIV from the general population to curb the spread of the disease. Even if that means setting up walled communities in isolated parts of the country where they can live, work, and enjoy the same basic freedoms as other Canadians, but never ever leave.

@Richard Collins How about moving to Mars instead?

@P. Ray Being flippant about it won't make the logic behind the idea any less sound. It's a simple quarantine procedure to contain a deadly disease.

@Richard Collins "...enjoy the same basic freedoms as other Canadians...", yes and one of those freedoms is to live anywhere in the country. By your logic, why not just throw HIV+ individuals in prison simply for having the disease, that way they can't go anywhere but they can make licence plates for 10c/hr.

@LuminolBlue Throwing them in prison makes no sense; first of all, having HIV is not a crime, and secondly they could infect non-HIV inmates and spread the disease. The point is to isolate the disease from non-infected Canadians, while still maintaining a quality of life for those who are infected.

You seem to think I was talking about some manner of complex, a grim government building with people in cells. My idea was of a series of ordinary small towns, each enclosed by a guarded wall. By isolating the virus in this way, we can take a large step towards eliminating it in the rest of the country.
