UPDATE: Whitby Sports Hall of Fame Inductee and Former Scout Leader Arrested on Sex Assault Charges
Durham police have charged an Oshawa man in connection to a series of sexual offences that occured more than 25 years ago.
Cops say that several men came forward reporting allegations of sexual assault that occured between 1975 to 1985. The accused was a volunteer Scout leader with the 20th Scouting Troop of Oshawa and allegedly inappropriately touched each victim during his tenure.
Investigators conducted their own investigation, and as a result have arrested 64-year-old Stanley Mark Brown with several charges of gross indecency, indecent assault on a male, and sexual assault.
Police say the accused is a former Scout Leader, held roles of leadership in amateur sports in Durham region, and is a businessman in the community.
He's the current President of the Whitby Warriors Junior Lacrosse team, and was inducted into the Whitby Sports Hall of Fame in 2006.
Cops say there could be more victims out there, and are appealing for other victims to come forward.
