Rob Ford Hitches Ride in Edmonton
Although Mayor Rob Ford may not be on board with the idea of using a driver in Toronto, he was quick to hop into the backseat of a vehicle in Edmonton.
While on a trip west described as a mix of business and pleasure, Glenn Kubish, who works in communications with ATB financial, spotted Mayor Ford on Jasper Avenue, and gave him a five block ride to Edmonton city hall.
Kubish says they talked about football and Edmonton, and tells Ryan Doyle and John Downs on Newstalk 1010's Friendly Fire that even while being driven by a stranger, Ford looked comfortable.
"I know there might be some irony in the fact that he has resisted the pressure to hire a driver that he would know."
After the quick ride, Mayor Ford handed Kubish his business card.
"I'm going to keep it forever," he says. "I had the mayor of Toronto in the backseat of Toronto in my car for five blocks and got to brag about my hometown. That business card is a reminder of that chance intersection of our lives."
