Weekend Road Closures

Posted By: Russ Courtney · 8/18/2012 7:39:00 AM

There are a number of weekend road closures in Toronto, including the kickoff of a month long festival that will mean reduced lanes on one of the city's busiest stretches of road.

The Celebrate Yonge Festival begins this weekend.

The pedestrian-friendly fair will block one lane on Yonge Street in each direction between Queen Street and Gerrard street, until September 16.

There is expected to be traffic disruptions around Exhibition Place for the 2012 Warriors' Day Parade.

Staging for the parade will be at Gore Park and Fort York Armoury. The parade starts at 10:30 a.m. and will wrap up at 1 p.m. The route will go from Gore Park and Fort York Armoury westbound on Lake Shore Boulevard, then westbound on Princes' Boulevard.

Eglinton will be closed from Dufferin to Marlee Ave. for the York Eglinton B.I.A street festival. The road closure is in effect from Saturday at 4 a.m until Sunday at midnight.

Bloor Street from Dufferin Street to Montrose Avenue will also be closed in both directions today for Bloorcourt Village Street Festival.

Midsummer Night's Run will involve closures today and tomorrow on roads bounded by Lake Shore Boulevard East, Cherry Street, Unwin Avenue, and Leslie Street.

Drivers can also expect extra traffic due to the Canadian National Exhibition.
