Be wary of your Facebook friends

Its a case where a simple phone call or text message might have done the trick.

A teenager in Burlington is probably grounded for the rest of his natural life after a house party got out of control on Thursday.

The boy decided to invite 10 of his closest buddies over to his parents' place near Walker's Line and Mainway for a party while his folks were out of town.

So, he posted details of the event on Facebook.

A big mistake, say Halton Police.

After word filtered through social media, more than 100 people ended up at the home.

Police officers had to be called in to break the party up.

Mum and Dad came find home to discover their electronics were missing and siginificant damage to the inside and outside of the home.

In a news release, Halton Police say its a reminder to be selective about the details you chose to put on social media.

@tpunk He invited 10 friends on facebook, L2R. And yes, readers don't want their $500,000 houses wrecked by stupid kids showing up from the local highschool because they are 'friends' with their son/daughter so that makes it news. facebook is nothing but bad news.
