The accused wasn't supposed to be driving, police say his license had been suspended. It happened just before 11 pm, a 75 year-old man was riding his bike along Burnhamthorpe near Tomkin when he was hit by a white pick-up truck. The suspect fled the scene before police tracked him down. Jeffery Sanford has been charged with Failure to Remain Causing Death and Driving While Under Suspension. There are plenty of people that age and older that play sports, cycle, ski, jog, etc. As to cyclists wanting to ride in lanes with cars, unless there's a dedicated cycling lane what else would you want cyclists to do? The road shoulders are often full of debris swept there by street cleaners, you have manhole covers, etc. that make it an obstacle course for cyclists. Besides, bikes are vehicles according to law and belong on the road. Please educate yourself.
