Toronto Public Health is warning of a spike in cases of West Nile virus in humans.

Authorities have reports of 35 cases. 

Of those, 9 people are in hospital and 4 of them are sick enough that they need to be in Intensive Care.

Toronto Public Health says the situation is not an emergency but adds its a reminder to take precautions.

They recommend wearing bug spray with small amounts of DEET, and staying inside in the evening and early-morning hours.
