Geeks descend on Toronto for Fan Expo
You're likely to notice a few more 'colourful characters' than normal on the subway this weekend.
Characters like Superman, Captain America and possibly even a Storm Trooper or two will be walking the downtown streets.
They're like heading to Metro Convention Centre, where Fan Expo Toronto wraps up on Sunday.
While not everyone is in costume, many are spending a significant amount of time and money on dressing up for occasion, drawing inspiration from movies, comics books and video games.
For science-fiction and comic book geeks, the event is like Christmas and Halloween rolled into one.
Sci-fi stars like Gillian Anderson (X-Files), Marvel Comics mastermind Stan Lee, and Levar Burton (of Star Trek and Reading Rainbow fame) are all making appearances to sign autographs and pose for photos with fans.
The Convention Centre will also have 400,000 square feet of space for vendors and retailers, selling everything from comic books and figurines to posters and clothing.
More than 80,000 people are expected to come through the doors by Sunday evening, making it the largest event of its kind in the country.
