Tropical Storm Isaac has now been upgraded to a Catgeory 1 Hurricane.

It means the storm has been measured to have sustained winds of at least 75 mph. 

The storm is baring down on the Gulf states Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama and is expected to make landfall Tuesday night.

US President Barack Obama addressed the residents of the Gulf Coast, asking them to heed local officials warnings and evacuate if the need arises.

The storm is expected to cause 12-15 foot waves along the coast on the eve of the 7th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.
