OPP Dive Team Looks For Evidence in Sonia Varaschin Case
OPP say they are confident that an arrest will be made in the Sonia Varaschin case, but won't say if they have suspects or persons-of-interests identified in the case.
The story came up after OPP divers searched a swamp near the discovery of Sonia Varaschin nearly two years ago.
It's unclear whether any evidence was found during the dive.
Sgt. Peter Leon says it seems like a lot of time has passed since Sonia's body was found but he says this case is complex with three crime scenes being investigated.
He says every day that passes, is another day closer to catching Varaschin's killer.
Police are continuing to collect DNA from men over 18, trying to match it with DNA found at the crime scene.
While he wouldn't comment whether they were close to catching a suspect, Sgt. Leon says they will make an arrest and that if he was the killer, he'd be looking over his shoulder.
