String of Sex Assaults Prompt Police to Issue an Alert

Posted By: Michelle Rosa · 8/30/2012 2:09:00 AM

Police patrols in the Spadina-College and Bloor and Christie areas has been beefed up after a string of reported sex assaults, and they appear to all have the same suspect.

They began on July 4, then near Denison Square and Augusta Ave and on August 19 two more incidents happened close to the intersections of Bloor and Christie. The last reported assault was at Bloor and Grace on Wednesday. There were six incidents and in all of them, the victims were women between the ages of 16 and 26.

Police say they are approached from behind and attacked and a "sexual assault alert" has been issued.

The suspect descriptions in the attacks all consist of a black man with a medium to stocky build, and between the ages of 17 and 35.

Meantime, The mayor's niece made a comment on Twitter about it. One hour after the news conference, Krista Ford tweeted: "stay alert, walk tall, carry mace, take self-defence classes and don't dress like a whore."

That was deleted from her page late Wednesday night.

Alice Moran, one of the victims of the string of assaults, wrote an Open Letter to Ms. Krista Ford on Facebook criticizing the former Lingerie Football League's choice of words. You can read it here.

I would just like to pass on a comment re Ms. Ford's message to girls/women not to dress like whores. Trust me, I am all for women's rights, etc. but let's face it girls, there are guys out there that are just a little sick, some more than others. We all know how we look when we look in the mirror at ourselves. There is nothing wrong about dressing for yourself or someone else. However, we're an intelligent species and we do know when we've crossed the line. I agree with Ms. Ford's comments.

@Judi By agreeing with Ms. Ford's comments, Judi agrees:

      1) Whores deserve to get raped.

      2) It is perfectly alright to carry around a banned weapon and use it.

I don't think the rapist cares at all if you want to go after Krista Ford. Read between the lines. It says "be street smart".

Toronto Police have increased patrols in certain parts of the city because Toronto is rapidly becoming the sex-assault capital of planet earth.

I guess when you have a police force that tells women not to dress like a whore or you might get raped, rape is obviously a problem.

Somebody has been driving around in a van kidnapping women near Ryerson University and taking them away, raping them and setting them free.

Some creep, a "white guy" is our best description crawled through a woman's window and tried to rape her. She fought the slug off and he ran away.

A "black guy" (again our best description), has been doing sexual assaults on women in the Spadina Christie area lately so TPS has patrols beefed up.

Add to the stack of evidence the so-called "better educated" politician's kids like Counsellor Ford's daughter and Mayor Ford's Niece publishing tweets warning "Stay alert, walk tall, carry mace, take self-defense classes & don't dress like a whore."

In Toronto We need a police chief who arrests criminals instead of blaming the victims. We need politicians who aren't Fords. Period. http://RINJ.org
