UPDATE: Torso Found in Niagara River
Homicide investigators in Niagara Region are looking through missing persons records trying to establish the identity of the woman's torso found floating in the lower Niagara River, not far from the Maid of the Mist dock Wednesday afternoon.
The torso was as sent to Hamilton General Hospital for an autopsy and police say it has been confirmed that the woman was the victim of a homicide.
Investigators and forensic experts say the torso is not related to the Peel police investigation involving the slaying of Toronto
woman Guang Hua Liu.
Police say the woman was white, middle-aged, and had a pierced naval. The local Coroner says she had at least one Caesarian section and a tubal ligation.
The torso was likely in the Niagara River anywhere from four days to two weeks. An autopsy is being conducted on Friday.
