VIDEO: Teachers a Hot Topic as Byelections Loom
The Premier toured safe-ground on Tuesday, at the Ecole Pierre Elliot Trudeau on Grace by Dundas, just two days before byelection day.
The province's French teachers agreed to a contract framework with the province days after Ontario's Catholic ones dide.
Dalton McGuinty says he understands where public teachers are coming from and that they have their own household budgets and have their own financial plans to deal with.
But he maintains he know teachers care about kids and not only about their education but their future economy, underlining how the province still has to pay down the deficit.
PC leader Tim Hudak says he's setting union members aside from union heads, stating he believes teachers care about the kids more than anything. He says teachers should be able to opt out of contracts agreed to by their unions if they want to.
