Elections Ontario Reveals Advance Voting Numbers in Byelections
While the big day is on Thursday, Elections Ontario has revealed how many people have voted in advance polls in the byelections in Kitchener-Waterloo and Vaughan, numbers that are lower than in the provincial election.
In Kitchener-Waterloo, preliminary figures show 6154 votes were cast this time around. In October, 6740 people came out. In Vaughan for the byelection, 2575 people voted. In the general election, 4570 ballots were cast in advance.
Voters these two ridings had time, advance voting began the day after the byelections were called by casting ballots at a local returning office, by mail or by home visit. Advance Polls were also open for seven days. While general advanced voting closed last week, those using Assistive Voting Technology or casting a special ballot will have until 6pm on Wednesday.
