OSPCA probe at Marineland ongoing
It's been almost 2 weeks since the OSPC-A moved in on Marineland, but there's no final report yet on alleged animal abuse at the Niagara Falls amusement park.
Wednesday, OSPCA spokesperson Alison Cross couldn't give any details about the investigation, but says it's ongoing. The park is still open.
A team of investigators with the OSPCA & the Canadian Association of Zoos & Aquariums did a sweep of Marineland on August 23rd.
The search came after ex-trainers went public, claiming seals & sea lionssuffered health problems including blindness because of bad water quality at the park. Marineland's head vet claims the problems are just symptoms of old age.
Cross says investigators need time to properly interview staffers & examine animals before wrapping up the case. She couldn't say if Marineland's animals were still being looked at though. There's no timeline for a final OSPCA report on Marineland.
