Liberals Chase Majority in Byelections

Posted By: Michelle Rosa · 9/6/2012 5:59:00 AM

Thursday's byelections in two Ontario communities could mean a majority government for the McGuinty Liberals.

In Vaughan, ballots will be casted to fill former liberal MPP Greg Sorbara's seat, but it's  Kitchener-Waterloo that could make the difference. That is,  if the seat vacated by Progressive Conservative MPP Elizabeth Witmer, is filled by a liberal.

PC leader Tim Hudak was in the riding on Wednesday, saying he's heard over and over again, that voters aren't ready for a liberal majority government.

Earlier this week, McGuinty said, ``It's always a little bit easier when you have a majority to act on a mandate, whether you're trying to introduce a budget or move ahead with a 'Putting Students First' act.''
