VIDEO: FordFest is Underway

Posted By: David Woodard · 9/7/2012 5:22:00 PM

Rob and Doug Ford's city-wide backyard party is ready get underway.  The tables and chairs are set up, as thousands are expected to attend the annual soiree.

Last week Rob Ford spoke with Jim Richards and invited the entire city to attend.  The mayor says he can 'fit in' close to 5,000 revellers.  Last year, Prime Minister Stephen Harper attended the party.

It's believed that media won't be allowed to stay past 7:30pm, however John Downs and Ryan Doyle of Newstalk 1010's Friendly Fire are broadcasting live from the party from 7-10pm.

    Thank you for setting up this community event!

    Feeling sorry though for the grass, surely destroyed by tens of thousands of visitors.

    All the best from our family!

      @Alex Hey Rob,
      Let me know if you want LawnSavers to come by and rehabilitate the grass.
      It's my treat. The least we can do to help you out!

    Very thoughtful offers from Alex & Co and LawnSavers to help restore the lawn in the aftermath of FordFest. You may have to actually insist however, or just show up on his doorstep, as Mayor Ford is not likely to call anyone for a "freebie", based on recent events, since " no good deed goes unpunished" in this town,

    We all know what happened with the technicial "conflict of interest" charge instigated by a handful of nasties on council in collusion with Paul Magpie, when Rob tried to help disadvantaged youth. These same petty detractors are liable to pull the same stunt if Mayor Ford actually contacts YOU directly for any help with the cleanup & restoration of his property.

    If the judge decides to enable the witch hunt by imposing the worst penalty possible, then Toronto will have lost a very good Mayor and the city will be worse off than ever. I think this travesty against Rob has already gone way too far. Those who are truly lacking in principles & integrity are the ones we really need to scrutinize & prosecute now. Go Ford Nation!!!

    Thank you Mr. Ford, it was an enjoyable evening. I am happy you were able to keep your chin up inspite of the conflict of interest issue instigated by a handful of yahoos on council in collusion with Magpie & Ruby.

    I'm just a little curious since I understand that there was heavy police presence outside on the streets and that basically this was a balloons and banners personal political campaign party that the Fords will be fully responsible for all police services charges for the evening and not the taxpayer. Am I safe to assume that?

    Kyle Rae spent $ 12,000 of OUR tax dollars for his going-away party (read last chance to suck on the public teat). Rob Ford has a party and the cost to taxpayers is $ 0.

    His attitude towards taxpayers' hard-earned dollars is commendable. Perhaps that should be added to the city councillors' handbook and should be a firing offence for anyone disrespecting it.

      @proton any expenses to the tax payer by ANY elected official that is for personal gain or political gain is totally unexceptable including Kyle Rae.
      Policing in this city is not free. It's very very expensive. It costs us all in our taxes. If the Fords are responsible for the costs of policing i have no problem with this gathering. When i see i'm inviting everyone to my families residence. come for a burger let me put up my personal political banner and let me give you my sales pitch. It smacks of political gain. If the tax payer is paying this policing bill most of us have a problem with that and so should you if you care about where our tax dollars are being used..
