POLL: Mayor Should Step Down if Found Guilty of Conflict of Interest

Posted By: Newstalk 1010 · 9/10/2012 7:51:00 PM

The Mayor should step down should he be found guilty of conflict of interest charges.

According to a recent Forum Research poll, 55% office believe the mayor should leave office if he is found guilty in the case.

Ford is accused of being in conflict of interest after not recusing himself from a vote last February that would determine whether he should repay donations he asked for on city letter head.

That being said - the same poll has Rob Ford's popularity up one percentage point from August to 42% support.

The best thing Ford could do for the right would be to retire by the next election. Let's get a right wing, fiscally responsible person into city hall who doesn't act like a constant buffoon. I mean honestly, yes some of what has been seen in the media on Ford has been unfair (late night KFC grab and the streetcar thing since even the union agreed he acted reasonable), but a lot of it has been him shooting himself in the foot. Enough with this sideshow already, let's get someone who starts acting like a mayor.

I voted for Mr. Ford. I'm satisfied that he has done most of what he campaigned on. I'm sorry that the members of council cannot submerge their personalities, work together and get down to the business of managing the city's problems. Toronto certainly has sufficient to keep them busy for the remainder of their term. There will be another election called in two years ... that event will provide the opportunity for the ELECTORATE to select who should be the mayor of Toronto and who should represent them in the other council positions. I resent people for whom I did not vote attempting to circumvent the political process for their own ambitions.

The biggest buffoons on city council are some of the left wingnuts like adam vaughan, shelley carroll et al. Ford may be a buffoon however at least he's doing something useful and representing taxpayers and trying his best to run the city fiscally.

I'd rather him with his buffoonery than those wasteful idiots any day. They just suck the life (and money) out of this city.

i'm kind of indifferent about the whole thing. But i think he should be allowed to finish his term. if the voters want to smoke his pasty backside after so be it. but the judge will decide i assume.
What he should be careful with is him declaring at his party the campaign starts today haha.. my understanding is it's illegal to start campaigning before a certain date and i don't think 2 years before is that date!! haha.. he continues to pull the pin on the grenade and drop the grenade on himself and give an opening to his detractors. If someone lodges a complaint he could find himself in court rooms for the next 2 years.
Don't forget he still has impending issues coming up with campaign financing last election.
Enjoy the ride people. good grief!

I feel that Mr. Ford should be allowed to finish his term. I also think that the council should remember that THE people voted Mr Ford in and they (the council) should give him some backing & support and not try to undermine him at everything turn of events. In two years if you feel he has not done a good job, that is the time to replace him, and hopefully it won't be Ms.Stinze (*), but someone who has better loyalty ethics...

@CatherineJ Adam Vaughan is a moron. This guy is so politically correct its not even funny.

Like banning bullets is going to stop the gun play! Give me a break. The guy is so far out of touch with the realities of the causes you wonder if he understands anything. He certainly is ready to pontificate anything to make himself look intelligent.

Ford was elected with a majority, and the pinko, politically correct crowd can wait his term out. Just like we had to wait for David Millers term to expire.

And like we are waiting to get rid of the pathological liar Dalton McGuinty!
