UPDATE: Gang Linked to Three Homicides & Other Shootings

Posted By: David Woodard · 9/11/2012 6:30:00 AM

The Chief of Police called it the worst scene of gun violence he had ever seen in thirty-five years of service.

2 people killed and 23 others injured after a shooting on Danzig Street back in July.  Now, Toronto police are linking this incident, a homicide in 2011, and six other shootings between September, 2011, and August 2012 to gang violence.

Cops say the murders of 14 year old Shyanne charles and 23 year old Joshua Yasay at the BBQ on Danzig street are linked to the Galloway Boys gang, as is the murder of D'Mitre Barnaby in September of 2011.

Barnaby was shot and killed in broad daylight on the morning of Dec. 30. His body was found face down outside an apartment building at 3895 Lawrence Ave. E. No arrests were ever made.

Police will be holding two news conferences on Tuesday, one near the scene of Barnaby’s murder and the other east of Danzig Street.

NewsTalk 1010 will have live and indepth coverage beginning at 10:30 a.m

Why isn't adam vaughan putting a motion to city council to outlaw gangs???? These gangs are responsible for the vast majority of the violence in our city.

What we need is to authorize the police to simply execute any and all known gang members they can find, including those currently in prison. Prison is clearly not a deterrent to these animals, so let's see if the prospect of a bullet to the head and their corpse thrown out with the rest of the Green Bin organic waste proves effective.

These animals contribute nothing to society. Why should they enjoy any of the benefits society provides?

We don't have a gang problem. We have an immigration problem. This problem has been evolving ever since this country was foolish enough to throw it's doors open. Jamaican youth were a problem almost from the minute they arrived in this city...just ask policemen who were on the force back then. If we'd implemented much tighter immigration requirements, and aggressively thrown offenders out, we'd have prevented this problem. YET, after 4 decades, we are still struggling to inject some kind of logic in the immigration process.

Millions of people from other cultures have come to this country and thrived. However, in this case, we have imported a violent, impoverished underclass that decries our society and police, but still demand that they be essentially bribed not to turn to crime. Immigration is supposed to be good for Canada...it's not supposed to be a sinkhole for law enforcement, correctional, and social assistance spending.

@Carro We certainly DO have a problem. With immigration. With guns, With Gangs. With law enforcement. With our gov't & impotent politicians. With the Youth Justice Act. With our courts. With our penal system. With aboriginal reserves smuggling guns, drugs, bullets, contraband of every kind! When will all of the above be fixed??? Should have been "nipped in the bud" and put in the Fed's budget FOUR DECADES ago ...No more excuses.. just FIX it!!

@Colin What bothers me the most is how preventable this all was.

@Carro it's a partial immigration problem. With all the waves of immigration there was never any investigation into the people applying. Included with all the people that have thrived and contributed were others that never should have been allowed. Look at the Sikh violence in BC, Vietnamese gangs that came with the boat people, Jamaican gangsters, Somali, Sri Lankan, and now Roma (aka gypsies).

We'd still have a homegrown problem however it's been exacerbated by a mostly Liberal agenda of immigration that never bothered to vet immigrants, and automatically allow family members without vetting.

Another problem is our human rights charter that allows refugee claimants decades to stay in Canada before being booted out. This is a major attraction for criminals as it's the path of least resistance for them.

Canada is knows worldwide for this farcical policy and this is what we end up with.
