Province Considers Privatizing MPAC After Spending Accusations
After hearing about an expensive corporate retreat that includes Lego blocks for team building exercises, the LIberal government is considering privatizing the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC).
It's an agency which assesses home values.
The province's Tories are accusing MPAC of having a two-and-a-half-hour long conference here in town during the Toronto International Film Fest on the taxpayer's dime. PC Economic Development Critic Monte McNaughton says it's costing over $750,000.
Around 1,300 employees are said to be attending the conference.
The Finance Minister was upset after hearing about it. Dwight Duncan something is wrong when he appoints people to MPAC but can't make changes.
The NDP says the Liberals were caught like deers in the headlights because of this and are throwing solutions on the wall to see what will stick.
