VIDEO: Premier Writes To Opposition Leaders On Bentley Issue
The Premier says he is going along with what the speak ruled in regards to the Energy Minister and the ball is in party house leaders' court.
Thursday, Queen's Park Speaker Dave Levac found Energy Minister Chris Bentley breached privilege after failing to produce documents at a provincial committee meeting this spring regarding the cancellation of the Mississauga and Oakville powerplants.
Levac has ordered party house leaders to resolve the issue by September 24th.
McGuinty says he has sent both PC leader Tim Hudak and NDP leader Andrea Horwath letters underlining while he agrees the documents must be released he says they shouldn't be released when commercially sensitive negotiations are underway.
He writes the issue is not if the documents should be made public, but when.
McGuinty accuses the opposition parties of playing politics with the issue.
Noting he instructed Government House Leader John Milloy to find a "timely solution" to everything, McGuinty asks both Horwath and Hudak to ask their house leaders to do the same.
