Two people have been confirmed dead and another is fighting for their life following a collision on the 403 Eastbound near Winston Churchill.

It happened around 3:45 on Friday afternoon and Provincial Police confirmed to Newstalk1010 that one person was pronounced dead at the scene, while a second person later died in hospital.

The collision and following investigation crippled traffic, with cars and trucks backed up one point, as far back as the QEW.

There's no word on what caused the collision, but cops say a Toyota Camry 'came into contact' with a tractor trailer when it merged onto the road.

All three victims are from the same car. The driver of the truck wasn't hurt.
