Downtown business not worried about NHL lockout

You're going to have to come up with something else to do on Saturday nights.

An NHL lockout looks inevitable now with the players & league still far apart with a day until the contract deadline.

Fans will be disappointed, but even a late start to the season could hit the bottom line of businesses around the Air Canada Centre.

The pre & post Leafs' game crowd makes up 10% of business at the Fox on Bay.

But General Manager Matt Simons isn't worried about losing that chunk of traffic.  The restaurant plans to make it up by promoting NFL events instead.

The Fox won't be hiring staff like it usually does for the winter months though.  Simons says a slow summer is also to blame.

A stonesthrow away from the ACC, the Real Sports Bar & Grill didn't want to talk about how they'd cope with a lockout.  A supervisor at the Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment-owned restaurant would only say they're "moving ahead on a positive foot."
