CAW making progress in auto talks
There could be a turning point in contract talks the auto world's big three.
The Canadian Auto Workers says it's making good progress with 1 of 3 of them.
The CAW's national secretary-treasurer says the unnamed company is looking over a wage plan after talks Saturday morning.
The proposal would see new employees start at a lower wage & take longer to reach the top of the pay ladder.
Peter Kennedy says once the wage issue is settled, the rest of the deal should be easy to nail down.
The CAW expects talks with the other 2 automakers to pick up once 1 of them signs with the union.
Midnight Monday is the deadline for a deal, but the CAW says they might keep talking past that if progress is being made.
The union will update negotiations at a media conference Sunday at noon.
