The city's latest homicide victim has been identified as 33-year-old Edwin Villan.

His body was found Sunday morning on a lawn on Midden Crescent, near Martin Grove and Eglinton.

Police say he died of a gunshot wound to the head.

After speaking with a witness and going through evidence left behind on the scene, police say they have been able to link a driver and his vehicle to the crime. Det Scott Purches says the pickup truck struck Villan before the driver took off eastbound.

The vehicle is described as a Chevrolet Silverado or GMC Sierra pickup, dark grey, blue or black. The most distinctive feature of the pickup truck is the rim on the wheels, which has an emblem in the centre (see photo above).

The driver is described as a white man, 30 to 40 years old, 5'10" to 6', he was wearing a beige baseball cap at the time.

Police are asking anyone who recognize the pickup truck description, or anyone who knows where Villan was early Sunday morning, to contact them at 416-808-7816, or call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477).

Det Purches says Villan (see photo above) lived in Toronto and leaves behind a young child.
