Heavy Rain Expected Tuesday
Keep the umbrellas handy as heavy rain is in the forecast for Tuesday and Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the Greater Toronto Area and southern Ontario.
Environment Canada says a narrow band of heavy rain and isolated thunderstorms are expected to slowly move through the region extending from Elgin County and Niagara Region northeast across the GTA and Peterborough to Pembroke. 15 to 25 mm of rain is expected in many areas by the late morning, with amounts of 25 to 40 mm possible in areas that receive a thunderstorm or two.
Meanwhile, the Toronto and Region Conservatition Authority is advising parents and teachers to let their kids know that water levels on the rivers, streams and lakes could be much higher than usual and the water flows faster.
Drivers are also being advised to prepare for low visibility in heavier rain which will result in difficult driving conditions.
