Toronto Blue Jays Get A New Farm Team
The Toronto Blue Jays have a new affiliation with a Triple A franchise.
The Jays signed a player development contact with the Buffalo Bisons of the International League today. It's a two year deal that begins next season.
The Bisons replace the Las Vegas 51's who'd served as the Blue Jays' farm club since 2008.
The move will mean Toronto's up and coming players will only have a 90 minute car ride to join the big club, instead of the current 5 hour plane ride.
The Buffalo Bisons are the third Triple-A affiliate the Toronto Blue Jays have had. The club had a working agreement with Syracuse of the International League for 31 years (1978-2008) before playing the last four seasons in the Pacific Coast League in Las Vegas (2009-2012).
