5 People Face 300+ Charges After Identity Theft Ring Busted
5 people are facing more than 300 charges after police dismantled an alleged identity theft ring in the GTA.
Officers made the arrests earlier this week after search warrants were executed in Milton, Mississauga, Brampton and Toronto.
Police say those searches led to the discovery of identity and credit card labs, over $350,000 in counterfit american cash and $67,000 in legitimate Canadian cash along with vaious pieeces of equipment used to make fake I.D.
Cops say there have been more that 100 victims - many of whom didn't even realize they had been victimized.
Christopher Dewsbury, Jennifer Bray of Milton, and Bisola Akinware of Brampton face 300 criminal charges in total, including Possession of Identity information and Instruments of Forgery.
Cynthia Marfo of Toronto is facing several charges including one of Forgery.
Stella Owusu of Toronto is facing one charge of Possession of Counterfeit Money.
Dewsbury, Bray and Akinware are being held in custody pending bail hearings.
