In an economy where many are hurting for employment, this may be a saving grace to some degree.

Yorkdale Shopping Centre is expanding to open new shops this fall, and are looking to fill 1,000 positions. The job fair for it takes place on Thursday.

The mall's new 145-thousand square foot facelift includes a larger Holt Renfrew store, and the new additions of Microsoft, Kate Spade and Tesla Motors. In all, it will mean 30 new retail shops.

Another 800 parking spaces will be added underground and a new valet parking area.
