*UPDATE* Khamis On Bail in London

Posted By: Dave Bradley · 9/21/2012 1:32:00 PM

Ad-Ham Khamis will have to spend a little more time behind bars.

The alleged gang member with the notorious Galloway Boys street gang in Toronto's east end, was brought before a judge on Friday morning.

It was the first court appearance for the 19 year old following his arrest by the Toronto Police's Guns and Gangs unit, late Thursday night.

His attorney spoke upon leaving the courtroom, and told Newstalk1010's Amber Gero, that he was aware Khamis was already out on bail on, what he refered to as 'drug charges' in London.

A publication ban covers what was said inside the court.

Khamis is accused in a string of shootings, dating back to last year.

He's facing a dozen charges, including 4 counts of attempted murder.

It's really discouraging to see what's become of Canada as a direct consequence of immigration.

@Caroline It's really discouraging how people like you refuse to ackwolege that your indifference towards the poor and new immigrants is the exact push these kids need to dable in illegal activities.

I could only imagine how many job interviews poor kids go to being conducted by people with your narrow minded views of the world.

If the conservatives "tough on crime" approach was working, we would not be having this conversation. If the pouring millions of dollars into the police force was the answer to street gangs, we wouldn't be having this conversation. If people looked at their indifference towards youths like this one, and came to the realization that that same indifference that pushes these youths towards a life of crime, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

If our elected officials were equally concerned with doing things that net results, as opposed to net short term goals and votes, we would not be having this conversation. THEN when we have dealt with all of those external problems, we, as a society, can address the breakdown of the nuclear family and how this affects poor people and new immigrants differently from the affluent.
