A former teacher has been arrested - accused of sexually assaulting a female student in the 1970's.

86-year-old Gordon Harvey Walker of Toronto is facing two charges of indecent assault.

Police say the allegations stem from incidents that occured between September 1974 and June 1975 while the accused was a teacher at Bloordale Public School on Toledo road.

He also taught at Norseman Junior and Middle School.

The victim was just 12 years old at the time of the alleged attack.

quite the contrast to the the french teacher being acquitted. seems to be a sexist difference in applying the law. thought society had advanced more than this

If it were that serious, and traumatic, why would the supposed 'victim' wait some 38 years to report it?

If I was bullied at the age of 6, can I press assault charges on that person? I'm 46 now. Maybe I could even apply for some sort of compensation or, better yet; disability! And why not? There doesn't seem to be expiration date on frivolity.

So, whatever happened to any of you, many, many years, er, decades ago; lets all go down to the local police station and make that person or persons pay. Can you image the barrage? Can you image what it would be like for you to be at the end of accuser's pointed finger?

Just how does this woman expect her accusation to turn out as the person she is accusing is now 86? They guy might croak next week. The stress of this arrest might surely kill him anyway.

There has to be some sort of statute of limitations on some crimes. How exactly is this alleged sexual abuse going to be proven in court? Where is the evidence? And, why did the so-called victim wait 4 decades to come forward? I smell a rat, and its name is Attention Seeker. The same goes for any other sexual abuse case where alleged "victims" come forward 10, 20, 30, even 40 years later.

He was my friends and my grade 6 teacher. We are not surprised by this. Though we didn't hear of any indecent encounters, we all felt that he was a pervert and one day as a class confronted him and he left the classroom. I wish he had been caught earlier to prevent it from happening to others. I imagine there are other vicitms out there and if so, please come forward.

@h.t. Funny he didnt teach grade 6,untill Millwood came up in 80 so your full of it! I was a student of Mr.Walker in 77 and 78 and he was a fun gentleman. We had so many supportive teachers. Dont you think 1 student would of come forward of told us at the time. He was flirty with the young girls that were more developed. It was innocent fun so there was rumours.thats why this sad 50 year old picked him to target. just because of them rumours. If something really did happen, which i highly doubt why would of she not said anything till now? I would give her a few tests with the doc? Maybe she was abused by someone else and she needs to punish someone? I think if someone takes an incredible amount of time to report a crime its there promblem. I think 2 - 3 years has to be the limit. Come on,should all those boys that felt up the girls in 1977 at the creek (not me) at Bloordale be charged now too??
