Meeting set between Escobar & anti-homophobia group
Blue Jay Yunel Escobar will sit down with the head of an anti-homophobia in sports group sometime this week.
On Sunday, You Can Play founder Patrick Burke tweeted that he'd confirmed his meeting with the baseball player.
Escobar was suspended for 3 games for wearing a homophobic slur written in Spanish on his face during a recent matchup with the Red Sox.
Through a translator, the shortstop has said he is embarrassed by his actions.
His lost wages, about $90-thousand went to You Can Play & Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD).
Patrick Burke said last week the Blue Jays have told him the team is "set on making long term commitments to the LGBT community" & that they should have been more proactive.
