Opposition Vows to Move Forward With Contempt Motion
As the Liberals release thousands of pages of documents in relation to the cancellation of both the Misissauga and Oakville power plants, it looks as though opposition parties will be moving forward with a contempt motion against the Energy Minister.
This all stems from Minister Chris Bentley refusing to make these files public during a committee meeting on the matter and the speaker finding him in breach of privilege.
PC leader Tim Hudak says they are still going through with the contempt motion because taxpayers want the Tories to send a signal that this type of behaviour will not be tolerated. He calls it "wrong, wasteful and scandalous".
NDP leader Andrea Horwath agrees there has to be a contempt motion for both the government and the minister, underlining this shouldn't have happened at all in the first place. She says there has to be repercussions.
