Fox News has apologized for broadcasting a suicide, live.

The news channel was following a car chase in Phoenix, Arizona that ended with the driver shooting himself in the head.

The footage was aired on Friday afternoon, and the host, Shepard Smith, started to yell "get it off, get it off", until the feed went to commercial.

When programming resumed he said “We really messed up and we’re all very sorry.”

“That didn’t belong on TV … I personally apologize to you that that happened.”
